Wabash opened the 2011-12 swimming and diving season Saturday at the Kenyon Relays. The Little Giants finished fifth out of seven teams competing at the event.
The meet is a tune-up for the season, featuring a combination of tradtion relays mixed with longer races.

The quartet of
David Phillips,
Jake Childress,
Alex Beck, and
Aaron Troyer finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke finish for the highest placing for a Wabash group. The foursome posted a finishing time of 1:40.71. Childress,
Matt Schramm,
Carter Adams, and Troyer took seventh place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.03.
The trio of Adams,
Matt Fouts, and Phillips finished eighth in the 1500-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall at the end of the race in 15:23.55.
Logan Rice, Schramm,
Stephen Batchelder, and
Michael Nemeth were 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke relay (2:01.46). Batchelder,
Charles Williams, Troyer, and Adams grabbed 10th place in the 200 butterfly relay (1:39.08). The 400-yard medley relay team of Adams, Batchelder, Troyer, and Phillips added a 12th-place finish with a time of 3:52.94. Adams, Beck, Schramm, and Batchelder were 14th in the 200 free relay (1:33.11). Schramm, Nemeth, Williams, and
Adam Barnes finished 15th in the 500-yard crescendo relay (4:35.32).
Jake Schild finished sixth overall on the one-meter diving board with a score of 211.40.
Jacob Anderson took 11th place (159.35). Schild finished seventh in three-meter competition (185.05), while Anderson was 10th (151.00).
Wabash scored a total of 45 points. National powers Kenyon and Denison tied for first place with a total of 124 points. Wooster took third (49), followed by Allegheny (48). Wittenberg was sixth (38), while Ohio Wesleyan finished seventh (28).
The Little Giants return to action on Friday, October 28 with a dual meet against Kalamazoo College. The meet is part of a double-dual competition hosted by Saint Mary's at the Notre Dame Aquatic Center.
