Greg Rhoads captured the 184-pound weight class title at the 2012 Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational this weekend.
The top-seed entering the tournament, Rhoads posted a record of 4-0 at the two-day event.
Rhoads opened competition with a 3-1 decision over Dennis Recknagel of Ohio Northern on Friday afternoon. A 13-7 decision in the quarterfinals over Mitchell Steed of Wheaton allowed Rhoads to advance, where he scored a 16-9 victory in the semifinals over fifth-seeded Andy Jenkins from Mount Union. Rhoads defeated third-seed Aaron Stevenson from the University of Indianapolis in the finals to claim the title.

Jake Strausbaugh finished eighth at 149 pounds after an injury brought his weekend to end. The top seed in the weight class, he started with a dominating 18-3 technical fall in his opening bout against Ian Gillespie from Heidelberg, followed by a 10-2 major victory against Josh Hotta from the University of Chicago. Eighth-seeded Cade Sarbacker from Wisconsin-Whitewater scored an upset 4-2 victory on his way to the weight class title, knocking Strausbaugh into the consolation bracket. Strausbaugh rallied for a 12-3 major victory against Roberto Frias from Lakeland College, but finished with a pair of medical forfeits in his final two bouts to be awarded eighth place.
Wabash returns to action next Saturday, competing at the John Summa Invitational. The tournament will be held at Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
