Three Wabash College student-athletes have been recognized for their achievements by the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Ronnie Posthauer,
Derek De St Jean, and
Mark Troiano were named Conference Athletes of the Week.
Posthauer received the Men's Sprinter/Hurdler of the Week award after setting the nation's top mark in Division III with his victory in the 110-meter hurdles Saturday. The sophomore All-American crossed the finish line in 14.51 at the Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Invitational to win the event and top the DIII mark of 14.53 set by Luke Campbell of Salisbury on March 13 at the Wake Forest Open.
De St Jean earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors by setting a new Wabash school record and earning three top-four finishes at the IWU meet. De St Jean broke the two-year-old school record in the shot put with an mark of 15.58 meters (51 feet, 1 inch), besting the previous effort of 15.39 meters (50 feet, 6 inches) set by
Matt Scheller. De St Jean added a second -place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.72 meters (156 feet, 6 inches) and a fourth-place finish in the discus (45.89 meters; 150 feet, 6 inches).
Troiano picked up the Men's Tennis Player of the Week award with a 2-0 singles record to go with a 2-0 doubles effort to help Wabash extended its winning streak to four matches. Troiano earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory at number four singles Wednesday in the Little Giants' 9-0 win against Rose-Hulman. He added a 6-3, 6-1 win at Albion. Troiano and
Daniel Delgado scored an 8-6 win at number one doubles against Rose and an 8-2 win at Albion.
