Wabash Ties for 7th; Kennedy Ties for 9th at Nye Golf Tourney

The Wabash golf team trimmed 16 strokes off its first round score to finish tied for 7th place at the 2013 Nye Intercollegiate at the Wooster Country Club. James Kennedy shot a 76 in the final round to tie for ninth place individually.

The Little Giants carded a 324 as a team on Sunday for a two-round total of 664 to match scores from John Carrol University and Ohio Northern University. Wittenberg won the team competition with a total of 609 strokes.

Kennedy's 76 tied for the third-lowest round Sunday, trailing only the 74s fired by co-medalists Sam Geise and Ben Hogenkamp. Kennedy finished with a two-day total of 158 strokes.

Cameron Taylor tied for 33rd place with a score of 166 (83-83). Nick Sommer cut 10 strokes off his Saturday score by finishing with a 170 (90-80) to tie for 50th place. Seth Hensley scored a 171 (85-86) to tie for 53rd along with teammated Logan Burdick (87-84), who played as an individual. Scotty Johansen Jr also played individually in the tournament, shooting 175 (88-87) to tie for 67th. Jackson Stevens completed the round for the Little Giants by finishing 76th (95-85=180) out of 90 golfers.

Wabsh will compete in the opening rounds of the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship April 27-28 to be held in Granville, Ohio. The final rounds will take place May 4-5 in Delaware, Ohio.
