James Kennedy shot a 70 on the final day of the Ted Barclay Spring Invitational to finish in a tie for 13th place in the individual scoring. Wabash took eighth place at the two-day tournament, which counts toward the first two rounds of the North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship.
Kennedy's 70 was the second-lowest round carded on the final day of competition at the Granville Golf Club in Ohio and the lowest round by a Wabash golfer this season and the lowest since Elliot Vice shot a 70 during the 2004-2005 season over 18 holes. Wittenberg's Alex Andrews, the medalist for the event, shot a 66 Sunday after posting a 72 Saturday to finish with a four-under par 138 for the tourney. Kennedy shot a 153 to finish 11-over par for the 36-hole event.
Logan Burdick also shot a 153 to tie for 13th place with a 77 on Saturday and a 76 Sunday.
Cameron Taylor tied for 26th with a total of 160 strokes (75-85).
Seth Hensley and
Nick Sommer each scored 173s to tie for 39th place. Hensley battled through a severe back injury on Sunday to finish with a 92, while Sommer shot an 86 on the final day of competition.
Wabash finished with a two-day score of 634 (316-318) to finish eight overall. Wittenberg won the team title with 586 strokes. Ohio Wesleyan took second place (599), followed by Kenyon (613), Allegheny (616), Wooster (620), and Denison (628).
The 2012-2013 golf season concludes next weekend with final two rounds of the NCAC Championship, to be held at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.
