Wabash had no problem picking up a win in the final dual meet of the 2013-2014 schedule Thursday night. The Little Giants won eight out of ten matches for a 42-10 victory at Trine University.
Pat Parham scored the first victory on the mat with a 6-2 decision over Wes Cummings at 141 pounds.
Michael Venezia earned a technical fall with a 17-2 score in his 149-pound bout versus Adam Boles.
Josh Sampson pinned Isaiah Hill at the 4:02 mark of their 165-pound match.
"It's a great feeling traveling to places knowing that our team has trained hard and is ready to be unleashed ," Venezia said. "Everyone has been training hard and supporting each other as we prepare for the Regiona and the Championship in March."
Ethan Farmer took a 10-2 decision at 174 pounds.
Riley Lefever remained perfect on the season at 184 pounds with a pin 1:26 into his match versus Joe Stasiak. Earlier in the day Lefever moved into second place on the NCAA Division III Most Dominant Wrestler list.
Ian Kelton scored the final victory with a pin at 6:24 at 285 pounds.
"Trine was fired up for their senior night, but we came out with just as much fire and more," Farmer said. "We worked our stuff and it payed off well. Im excited to watch us compete at conference this weekend and have just as much fun as we did tonight."
Tommy Poynter received a forfeit at 125 pounds, as did
Reece Lefever at 157 pounds.
Wabash will serve as hosts for the annual Mid-States Wrestling Tournament Saturday at 9 a.m. at Chadwick Court. Admission is free of charge.
