Six pins in the final matches of Thursday night's season-opening dual meet led to a 47-3 victory by the Wabash wrestling team over Manchester University at Chadwick Court.
 
Nick Bova started the pin streak with a first period fall at 157 pounds over Bryce Roberts. Connor Brummett added a pin in his 165-pound bout versus Dylan Lauffer. All-American Ethan Farmer recorded his first pin of the season at 174 pounds in the second period of his match against Aaron Bullock.
 
Two-time national champion Riley Lefever, fresh off his 184-pound weight class title at the Eastern Michigan Open, scored a pin wrestling against Alex Roberts. Brett Thumm recorded a pin at 197 pounds over Brian Clark in the second period. Jake Barclay picked up the final pin in the second period of his heavyweight bout against Nick Joyner.
 
Chris Diaz started the night with a 17-0 technical fall at 125 pounds versus Blake Denton. After the Spartans picked up their lone victory of the evening at 133 pounds, Michael Venezia produced an 11-6 win at 141 pounds. Devin Broukel, a national qualifier last season for Wabash, delivered a 5-3 win at 149 pounds.
 
Wabash returns to the mat against Adrian University next Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Bellmont High School in Decatur, Indiana
