Wabash captured a victory in its final dual meet of the 2015-2016 season Thursday night, knocking off Trine University 41-15.
Devante Gray opened the night with a pin at the 4:43 mark of his 125-pound bout versus David Moore. The Thunder took a 9-6 lead after victories at 133 and 141 pounds before
SaVonne Bennette gave the Little Giants the lead for good with a 22-6 technical fall at 149 pounds.
Kellen VanCamp pinned Austin Nault 50 seconds into the 157-pound bout.
Ethan Farmer pinned Kerry Raab at 1:35 in the 174-pound match after
Connor Brummett earned a forfeit at 165 pounds.
Riley Lefever and
Brett Thumm received forfeits at 184 and 197 pounds, respectively to close the team scoring for Wabash. Trine added a pin at heavyweight to finish the evening.
Wabash finished the season with a 13-1 mark in dual-meet competition. The Little Giants will compete at the Mid-States Conference Meet Saturday at Ohio Northern University in its final preparation before the 2016 NCAA Midwest Regional, to be held at Wabash Saturday, February 27 in the Knowling Fieldhouse.
