Lefever Named To Academic All-America First Team

Wabash College rising senior Riley Lefever has been named to the Division III Men's At-Large Academic All-America First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Lefever, an English major with a 3.45 cumulative grade point average, won his third consecutive NCAA Division III national wrestling championship at 184 pounds. He became the 16th wrestler in DIII history to win three national titles and can become the second wrestler in DIII history to capture four titles with a win in 2017. Lefever finished the 2015-16 season with a 44-0 record for his second consecutive year, improving his career record to 119-3. He was named the NCAA DIII Most Dominant Wrestler for the second straight season. Lefever also tied for the DIII lead in falls with 22 pins. He was also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the 2016 NCAA DIII Championship tournament. Lefever recently finished fifth competing at 74 kg at the 2016 University Freestyle Nationals.
 
Lefever serves as the head resident assistant at Wabash. He has also raised money for the JDRF Diabetes Foundation. Lefever received the Pete Vaughan Award, presented to the top student-athlete at Wabash, in 2015 and 2016.
 
Lefever is the third Wabash student-athlete to earn Academic All-America First Team honors. He joins Mason Zurek (football) and Daniel Purvlicis (basketball). Lefever's older brother, Reece, was named to the DIII Men's Academic All-America Third Team in 2015.
 
CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite  Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
