Servies Wrestling Room

Part of Wabash College's commitment to wrestling can be seen in the new Max E. Servies '58 Wrestling Room. The practice facility, made possible in part by a gift from Dr. K. Donald Shelbourne '72, was used for the first time during the 2000 season. The room can be used for wrestling practice as well as aerobics, martial arts, and yoga studies.

The wrestling facility houses four climbing ropes, pull-up bars, dip racks, and band stations. The room also has Olympic bars and bounce plates for the wrestlers to use during morning cross training workouts. New to the room is a full set of kettle bells, tractor tires and sledge hammers. Also housed in the wrestling room are throwing dummies, a wall mounted ADAM takedown machine and a stereo system.

The Servies Wrestling Room isn't the only addition to program. Wabash also dedicated part of the Chadwick Court renovation as an upgrade to the wrestling meet facilities. Two new mat lifting systems allow wrestling competition mats to be easily stored during basketball games, and quickly lowered and put into place for wrestling meets and tournaments. Three new media tables, two new scoreboards and controllers, and a redesigned bleacher section allow space for up to five matches to take place at the same time.

Another area for competition is the field house which is right outside the wrestling room and can accommodate 14 mats, still providing ample space for seating and scoring tables. The field house has been the annual home of the Brian L. Anderson Little Giants Summer Wrestling Camps each June. This space is also used frequently for pre-season and in-season training, which gives the team a lot of versatility space to utilize for conditioning during the year.
