Wabash College Athletics

A Wingate High School product and teammate of Wabash Hall of Fame inductee Homer Stonebaker on Wingate's two state championship basketball teams, Thorn was recruited to Wabash after a hitch in the service by his cousin, Raymond "Gaumy" Neal. Thorn became the finest all-around athlete in Wabash College history. He remains the only person to win 16 varsity letters (four each in football, basketball, baseball, and track) and is a member of both the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. Thorn went on to work with the Boys Club in Warsaw, Indiana for 37 years.
