Michael J. "Mike" Henry was born in Osaka, Japan, attended Michigan City Elston High School, and came to Wabash in the fall of 1966. You were a three-sport prep athlete who earned nine varsity letters and captained your football, baseball, and wrestling teams. You became a star football player at Wabash. In your sophomore year, Wabash struggled finding the endzone and headed into the Monon Bell Game with a dismal 1-7 record.  DePauw had its best team in years, but Wabash's defense came to play that day and your short, hard-earned touchdown run early in the second half provided the game's only score in a 7-0 Little Giant upset victory.

You scored five of Wabash's eight total touchdowns that year. In your senior season, you were Wabash's featured running back and led the entire state of Indiana in rushing with 256 carries, 1,379 yards, and 10 touchdowns.  Those 1,379 yards were the most ever by a Wabash back in a single season until fellow Hall of Famer Bill Kaiser ’87 broke your impressive record in 1985.  For your efforts on the gridiron, you were named the Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Offensive Back, and won the Monon Bell Award.

A speech major and member of Phi Delta Theta, you were one of the most involved students on campus. You minored in theater and were a member of the Scarlet Masque, as well as the Sphinx Club, Scarlet Key, and Student Senate. In addition, you received the Pete Vaughan Award as the outstanding senior athlete at Wabash. {In 1973, you moved to California, where you live today, where you are the Managing Director and Vice President of Operations for SDG Foods, Inc., in Vernon, California.} The National Association of Wabash Men is proud to induct Michael J. “Mike” Henry into the Wabash College Athletic Hall of Fame.
