Michael D. "Mick" Martin, you didn't travel far from your hometown when selecting Wabash as your college choice. A native of nearby Waynetown and graduate of North Montgomery High School, you came to Wabash in the fall of 1976 and graduated as one of the College's finest receivers in history, earning four football letters and four more in baseball. You were a key performer in Wabash's 1977 football season, catching 54 passes for 783 yards and four touchdowns during Wabash's run to the national championship game.

In four years you caught 118 passes from your tight end and split end positions, passes that covered 1,805 yards. You also scored 15 touchdowns for the Little Giants. More impressive than your individual stats, however, were your contribution to Wabash's most successful teams in history. During your four years as a contributor, Wabash's gridmen posted a record of 34-7-0 that included four straight wins over archrival DePauw. You caught 25 passes for 528 yards and four scores in your senior season, helping Wabash to an 8-1 record to earn Most Valuable Player and Second Team All-America honors. You were a hero when you hauled in a 73-yard scoring pass from fellow Hall of Famer David Broecker to secure Wabash's 16-13 win over rival DePauw in 1979.

Your athletic ability didn't end on the football field. Indeed, you were a fine baseball player as well, and hit .404 to lead the Little Giants in batting in 1979. A psychology major and member of Phi Delta Theta, You were named the 1980 Pete Vaughan Award winner as the outstanding athlete in your senior class. The National Association is proud to induct you, Michael D. “Mick” Martin, into the Wabash College Athletic Hall of Fame.
