Steven W. Wagner, native of Muncie, Indiana and graduate of Central High School, you developed into one of the finest wrestlers ever to hit the mats for Coach Max Servies. A four-year letterman, you posted the best single-season record in Wabash history in two different weight classes. Wrestling at 150 pounds, you posted a perfect 13-0 record and were named the Most Valuable Wrestler of the Indiana Collegiate Conference.

A year later, as a junior co-captain you wrestled to fifth place at the Division III National Championships, finishing that season with a 25-3 record at 158 pounds to become an All-American. You won the GLCA, Little State, and ICC titles that year, and recorded at one point 27 consecutive victories. With a career record of 61 wins and only seven losses, you are one of only two wrestlers in Wabash history to record more than 60 wins and fewer than 10 losses. Along the way, you helped the Little Giants go 41-7 in dual meets and win three Great Lakes Colleges Association championships.

A biology major at Wabash, you later earned a master’s degree from the University of Illinois, and for the last 20 years have been in agricultural sales and consulting. For a wrestling career that shattered the record book and earned for you All-American status, the National Association of Wabash Men is proud to induct you, Steven W. Wagner, in the Wabash Athletics Hall of Fame.
