Timothy R. Servies, native son of Crawfordsville and son of the legendary coach and athletic director Max Servies, you grew up around Wabash College and seemed destined to leave your mark in the athletic department when you arrived in the fall of 1983. You were a star athlete at Crawfordsville High School, where you stood out in football, wrestling, and track. Like your father, however, wrestling was your first love, and Wabash’s teams were all the better for it. A four-year letterman at Wabash, you qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships three times in four seasons. You put up almost ridiculously stunning records, year after year, like the 27-5 mark you posted in your senior year. That year, while wrestling at 177 pounds, you became an All-American with a fourth place finish at the national championships. Your lifetime record at Wabash was 71-16, winning 82 percent of your matches.
As team captain and Most Valuable Wrestler, you led the 1987 team to a perfect 18-0 dual meet record, one of just two spotless records in the program’s illustrious history. In fact, during your four years at Wabash, Little Giant wrestling teams never lost more than one match in a season, and posted a combined, four-year record of 57-3. So good were you that you earned the Pete Vaughan Award as the outstanding athlete in your graduating class. You have continued that athletic prowess even today as a licensed wrestling official, award-winning member of the Indianapolis Rugby Club, and as an Indianapolis Mini-Marathon runner. For your wrestling savvy and outstanding leadership of the best teams in Wabash wrestling history, the National Association of Wabash Men is proud to induct you, Timothy R. Servies, into the Wabash College Athletic Hall of Fame.
