A Crawfordsville native, Bill earned ten total letters in football, basketball, and baseball at Wabash. He played on Francis Cayou's original Little Giant football team of 1904. For Bill's prowess at center during his senior gridiron campaign, the Indianapolis Star named him to its All-State Team.
Sprow also played for Ralph Jones' basketball team that had a phenomenal 66-3 record over four years. In Bill's senior season, the basketball team went 24-0 and was proclaimed "World Champions." Sprow was a unanimous choice as All-America on a Wabash team that featured four other All-America cagers. Sprow practiced law in Crawfordsville for many years and was active in local and alumni affairs before his death in 1953.
