Seven Little Giants Earn All-NCAC Baseball Honors

Seven Wabash College players earned selections to the 2018 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Team.
 
Senior pitcher Bryan Roberts received First Team All-NCAC honors. Senior catcher Bryce Aldridge and junior second baseman Sean Roginski garnered Second Team selections. Sophomore first baseman Jackson Blevins, junior shortstop Eric Chavez, sophomore relief pitcher Zach Moffett, and junior outfield Jared Wolfe each earned places on the Honorable Mention team. All seven players received All-NCAC recognition for the first time in their careers.
 
Roberts completed the regular season and conference tournament with a record of 7-3 with a 2.29 earned run average. He ranks third in the NCAC in ERA. Roberts limited opposing teams to 68 hits in 82-2/3 inning pitched with 25 walks while striking out 70 batters. He is the all-time leader in Wabash baseball history in runners picked off base with a total of 12. The senior right hander ranks sixth in the Wabash record book in total strikeouts with 171.
 
Aldridge leads Wabash with a .371 batting average and .482 on-base percentage this season. His on-base percentage average ranks sixth-best among NCAC players, while his batting average places him ninth on the conference list. Aldridge collected 59 hits through 43 games to this point in the season, eighth-best in the conference and tied for the fifth-most in a single season among Wabash players. The senior has driving in 45 runs for second on the team and is currently tied for fourth-most in a single season for Wabash. He has drawn 28 walks, tied for fifth-most in a season, and is tied for the team lead in home runs this year with three. Aldridge was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2018 NCAC Tournament after batting .538 over three games with seven hits in 13 at bats with two RBI and four runs scored.
 
Roginski started all 43 games at second base to this point in the season, hitting .345 in 168 at bats. His 49 runs scored set a new high-water mark in Wabash single-season history, ranks 45th among Division III players, and sixth in the conference for the year. He currently is tied for 10th on the Wabash career runs scored list with 104. Roginski is tied for second on the team in base hits this season with 58 and is second with 17 doubles to rank sixth in the conference and 41st in Division III. He has stolen 10 bases to tie him for second on the team. Roginski has 58 hits through 43 games, tied for ninth-best in the conference. He posted 20 multi-hit games and hit safely in 13 consecutive games.
 
Blevins leads Wabash to this point in the season with 48 RBI, fourth-best in the NCAC through the conference tournament. He ranks second on the Little Giant squad with a .352 batting average and leads the team with a .545 slugging percentage. Blevins hit 18 doubles through 43 games to lead Wabash. He ranks fourth in the conference and is 26th in Division III in two-base hits. The sophomore transfer from Saint Joseph's College tied with Roginski for second on the team with 58 total hits. Twenty-four went for extra bases.
 
Chavez has started all 43 games at shortstop for Wabash to this point in the season, batting .309 with 47 hits in 152 at bats. He has driven in 21 runs and scored 22 times. He has made 119 assists, the fourth-most in a season by a Wabash player. He ranks 11th in school history with 217 assists and is tied for 11th with 11 sacrifice hits. Chavez has five sacrifice bunts this season to rank second on the team in that category.
 
Moffett is 4-0 with a 3.44 ERA and single-season school record eight saves. His eight saves are tied for the conference lead and ranks 18th in Division III. Moffett earned two saves and a victory in three games at the conference tournament. His first save of the tournament made him the Little Giants' all-time leader in saves with ten. The sophomore right hander has appeared in 23 games this season to set a new Wabash record for appearance as well as ranking fourth in the NCAC and 13th in Division III.
 
Wolfe leads the NCAC and ranks sixth in Division III with seven triples this season. His seven three-base hits broke the Wabash single season and career records, giving him 13 through three seasons. Wolfe hit .307 over the course of 43 games to this point in the season with 50 hits and 28 RBI. He is tied for the team lead in home runs with three and collected a total of 14 extra-base hits. Wolfe leads the team with 11 stolen bases and is tied for the conference lead with sacrifice hits.
 
Wabash (28-15) broke the school record for victories in a season and won the 2018 NCAC Baseball Tournament Saturday to earn the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Little Giants are the eight seed in the Mideast Regional and will begin play May 17 at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan.
