The Wabash College track and field team earned 13 top-five finishes and had four individual event champions at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Meet for its 2024 outdoor season opener.

The Little Giants finished third as a team with 96 points, trailing the meet winners of Rose-Hulman with 192 points and DePauw with 123 points. St.-Mary-of-the-Woods (77 points), Hanover (48 points) and Franklin (30 points) rounded out team scoring.

Evan Furuness set a huge career-best of 45.42 meters (149 feet, 0 inches) in the hammer throw to win the event.
Will Boas launched a throw of 42.65 meters (139 feet, 11 inches) for a new personal best and third-place finish.
Lane Brockman scored a fifth-place finish with a 41.65 meter (136 feet, 7 inches) heave.

Ryan Papandria won in the javelin throw with a launch of 46.77 meters (153 feet, 5 inches).
John Schnerre threw 39.49 meters (129 feet, 6 inches) to secure a third-place finish.

Quinn Sholar won the discus throw with a heave of 44.64 meters (146 feet, 5 inches). Sholar also had a launch of 14.48 inches (47 feet, 6.25 inches) in the shot put for a runner-up finish.

Owen Smith won his 400-meter hurdle debut as a collegian with a time of 58.47.

Conner Grimes ran 10.78 in the 100-meter dash for a second-place effort. Grimes also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.95 to complete the sprint double.

Will Morris propelled himself over 4.11 meters (13 feet, 5.75 inches) in the pole vault to finish second overall.

Howie Steele earned a third-place finish with a 51.31 effort in the 400-meter dash.

Takeshi Greiner crossed the line fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.23.
