Wabash sits in third place with 39 entering the final day of the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships taking place at Denison University. The Little Giants scored nine top-eight finishes on the opening day of competition.
Denison and Wittenberg University are tied for first place in the men's team standings with 48 total points through seven events. Wabash is third with 39 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan in fourth place with 32 points. Wooster (29 points), DePauw (28 points), Kenyon (25 points), and Oberlin (24 points) complete the team scoring.Â
Quinn Sholar earned All-NCAC honors with a second-place finish in the discus. The sophomore produced a top effort of 46.73 meters (153 feet, 3 inches) to produce a new careeer-best mark. Jake Oostman finished seventh with a throw of 39.63 meters (130 feet).Â
Landon Miller produced a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a career-best toss of 49.18 meters (161 feet, 4 inches). Oostman added a career-best throw of 48.27 meters (158 feet, 4 inches) to earn a seventh-place finish in the event. Ryan Papandria captured eighth place with a mark of 47.73 meters (156 feet, 7 inches).Â
Nate Joven cleared 4.00 meters (13 feet, 1.5 inches) to score a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. Ronnie Moore also topped out at 4.00 meters to capture fifth place overall. Sly Williams placed fourth overall in the long jump with a leap of 6.80 meters (22 feet, 3.75 inches).Â
Drake Hayes turned in a fourth-place finish on the track in the 10,000-meter run by finishing in 32:57.56.Â
The 2024 NCAC Outdoor Track and FielChampionships conclude on Saturday with finals in 14 events beginning with field events at 10 a.m.
