Box Score The Wabash soccer team earned an important victory in North Coast Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Denison. The Little Giants even their league record at 2-3 and remain in contention for a possible conference tournament berth.

Steve Magura scored the game-winner in the 65th minute, picking up the first goal of his collegiate career.

The victory moves Wabash to sixth in the conference standings with four matches remaining in the season.The Little Giants also improve to 7-6-2 overall with the win.
“This was probably our best performance of the season,” Wabash head coach Roberto Giannini said. “We played with desire, but we were also smart. We knew Denison had tall players who are dangerous on restarts. We talked about it before the match and the players really executed well.
“We really mounted a series of offensive challenge late in the match and had three or four breakaways with the possibility to score another goal. I'm really pleased with the effort today from our team. We really played well for 90 minutes. We proved that we can be a dangerous team heading into these final few matches.”
Wabash outshot Denison 13-10 and put eight shots on goal compared to four for the Big Red.
Matt Paul recorded four saves in net for Wabash.
Tommy Pecar finished with three shots on goal, while Magura,
Allan Swan,
CJ Francoeur,
Dylan Andrew, and
Blake Jennings each had one shot on goal.
The Little Giants return to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest at arch-rival DePauw University.
