NCAA regulations require each member NCAA institution to exercise
institutional control. This responsibility extends outside the athletics area to the college community and beyond. The college is held accountable for the acts of all individuals identified as
representatives of the college's athletics interests. The NCAA definition of this term is very broad and includes all alumni and boosters, as well as the vast majority of the family and fans who attend our sporting events.

NIL INFORMATION
- NCAA Guidance
- Wabash policy requires that student-athletes disclose all proposed NIL activities to the Athletics Department at least ten (10) business days prior using the NIL Disclosure Form. Wabash's NIL Policy and this form are shared at pre-season compliance meetings; for an additional copy, please email manwella@wabash.edu.
- Please remember that any compensation from an NIL deal is based on who the athlete is and not what the athlete does regarding athletic performance, statistics, awards, etc. Wabash College representatives should not be involved in NIL contract negotiations.
SPORTS WAGERING INFORMATION
COMPLIANCE DEFINITIONS
Prospective Student-Athlete - A student who has started classes for the 9th grade. In addition, a student who has not started classes for the 9th grade becomes a prospective student-athlete if the institution provides such an individual (or the individual's relatives or friends) any financial assistance or other benefit that the institution does not provide to prospective students generally.
Contact - Any face-to-face encounter between a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete's parents, relatives or legal guardians and an institutional staff member or athletics representative during which any dialogue occurs in excess of an exchange of a greeting.
Extra Benefit - Any special arrangement by an institutional staff member or a representative of the institution's athletics interest provided to a student-athlete or the student-athlete's relative or friend that is not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. The receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their relatives or friends is not a violation if the same benefit is generally available to the general public (e.g., institution's student body) on a basis unrelated to athletics ability.
Official Visit - A visit paid for in whole or in part by the institution.
Recruitment - Any solicitation of a prospective student-athlete or a prospective student-athlete's relatives (or legal guardians) by an institutional staff member or by a representative of the institution's athletics interests for the purpose of securing the prospective student-athlete's enrollment and ultimate participation in the institution's intercollegiate athletics program.
Representative of Athletics Interest (commonly referred to as a booster) - An individual, independent agency, corporate entity (e.g., apparel or equipment manufacturer) or other organization who is known (or should have been known) by a member of the institution's executive or athletics administration to:
- Have participated in or to be a member of an agency or organization promoting the institution's intercollegiate athletics program;
- Have made financial contributions to the athletics department or to an athletics booster organization of that institution;
- Be assisting or to have been requested (by the athletics department staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes;
- Be assisting or to have assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families; or
- Have been involved otherwise in promoting the institution's athletics program.
Unofficial Visit - A visit made at the prospective student-athlete's own expense. The institution may provide only limited benefits to the prospect during his or her visit. These benefits include complimentary admissions to an on-campus athletics event in which the institution's team competes and transportation to view off-campus practice or competition sites within a 30-mile radius of the institution's campus when accompanied by a staff member. The provision of any other expenses or entertainment shall require the visit to become an official visit.
