Darkness, Lightning Force Wabash, Franklin to 0-0 Draw

Box Score A storm that produced lightning and heavy rain prior to the start of the first overtime period between Wabash and Franklin Wednesday night. Officials called the match due to darkness as a 0-0 tie.

Wabash outshot Franklin 14-6 and doubled the amount of shots on goal. However, three of the Little Giants' attempts just sailed either beyond the left post or just over the crossbar.

Box score

We played great soccer," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "We moved the ball and passed well, but we just can't seem to get a ball into the net. When you don't score you either tie or lose. We took plenty of good shots. We have to work on our finishing. We create plenty of chances but we just aren't putting anything away. That usually comes back to bite you. If you attack and attack and don't score, often times the other team gets one quick counter and ends up winning 1-0.

"We have to go back and find a better way to get shots into the net. Other than not scoring, our performance was excellent. We played very good soccer. Now we move on to an important conference match on Saturday at Wooster."

Freshman Blake Jennings fired six shots in the contest, including three shots on goal. George Vinihakis had a shot on goal for Wabash, as well.

Matt Paul recorded two saves out of the six shot attempts by the Grizzlies (5-4-1).

Wabash (4-4-2) travels to Wooster on Saturday for a 3 p.m. North Coast Athletic Conference match.
