Kenny Harris,
Levi Noblitt,
Matt Paul, and
Joe Stiglitz each were recognized for their contributions to the Little Giant soccer program.
"This was a bitter-sweet ending for the seniors," Wabash head coach
Chris Keller said. "The wins and losses weren't where we wanted them to be. But this group did help us accomplish a lot of our goals for this year. They have helped get the program moving in the right direction."
Hiram (15-2-1, 6-2-1 NCAC), which finished third in the final North Coast Athletic Conference regular season standings, scored in the 29th minute on a shot by Richard Webb. Ty Smith added a second goal in the 60th minute before Ryan Minick added the final tally in the 64th minute.
Wabash managed six shots in the contest.
Blake Jennings fired three attempts, thile
Jacob Nigh had the only shot on goal.
Steve Magura and
Matthew Bupp also had shot attempts in the contest.
Paul, playing in goal for the final time of his career at Wabash, made six saves. He finishes his career as the Little Giants' all-time leader in goals against average witha mark of 1.45. He ranks fifth in saves (183) and 10th in save percentage (.738).
"Hiram did a really good job attacking us on offense," Keller said. "That's why they're one of the premier teams in the conference. We gave them a little too much space and didn't have good game in terms of ball possession. That allowed Hiram to take advantage of some of our mistakes and score two goals.
"With such a young squad, I'm already looking forward to next season," Keller added. "I think the experience gained by the young guys this year will allow them to sieze opportunities next year."
Wabash ends the season with an overall record of 4-14 and a mark of 2-7 in NCAC play.
