Box Score A goal in the ninth minute of overtime pushed Rose-Hulman past Wabash 1-0 in Saturday afternoon soccer action.
Little Giant goalkeeper
Matt Paul recorded nine saves, while his teammates added a tenth in the losing effort.
Spencer Johnson ended the match with the sudden-death goal off a pass from William Senat. Rose (1-2-1) used a quick counterattack to work the ball wide to setup the golden goal.
“It was a pretty evenly played game,” Wabash Head Coach
Chris Keller said. “They out-possessed us a good amount of the time, but we forced nearly all of their shots from a long way out. It was a really good battle in the midfield all day.
“A lack of distribution today hurt us. We were just a little off with some passes and had some technical breakdowns.
Matt Paul played great and we're defending well. The attacking third is always the last thing to come together and I think it will come soon.
Levi Noblitt and
Blake Jennings each put shots on net for Wabash. Jennings led the Little Giants with three total shots out of five total tries.
Wabash (1-3) returns to action Sunday with a 2 p.m. match at Earlham College.
