Box Score Zach Woloshin returned to the starting lineup for Wabash Tuesday night to score both goals in the Little Giants' 2-1 victory at Hanover.
Woloshin missed the first six games of the season with a pulled groin before getting the start Tuesday night. He knocked home his first goal in the closing minutes of the first half with a strike from just outside the box to give Wabash a 1-0 lead. Six minutes into the final period he notched his second goal of the match on a pass from
Riley Pelton just in front of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Geno James added an assist on Woloshin's first goal.
"It was nice to get Woly (Woloshin) back," Wabash head coach
Chris Keller said. "We've really missed him in our lineup all year. He scored two great goals and give a lot of credit to Geno and Riley to find him. A lot of credit goes to Mark Colston and the rest of the athletic training staff to get Zach healthy. Hopefully he's back for the rest of the year.
The Panthers (2-4) cut the Wabash lead to one with a goal on a penalty kick in the 67th minute.
"We played good soccer," Keller said. "We were a little unlucky on a defensive slip that led to the penalty kick, but we played blue-collar soccer after that to get the win."
Chase Francoeur picked up the win in his first start in goal. The freshman recorded four saves and faced nine total shots.Woloshin tallied three of the Little Giants seven total shots. The Little Giants put five shots on net.
Wabash improves to 2-4-1 with the victory. The Little Giants will be off for the next seven days before traveling to play at the University of Chicago.
