Box Score Dayton Jennings posted his second consecutive shutout in goal for Wabash, while
Geno James scored in the 67th minute for a 1-0 win at Earlham.
The Little Giants improved to 2-0 for the season, reaching that mark for the first time since 2010. Wabash started that season with three consecutive victories.
Jennings turned aside one shot on goal on the night thanks to a stingy Little Giant defense.
"This was a tough, physical battled played mostly in the midfield," Wabash head coach
Chris Keller said. "We played really good organized team defense. Credit all the backs and really the whole team for the defensive effort tonight.
"We kept our composure and created a lot of opportunities but missed a few chances that could have put Earlham (0-2-1) away."
James' header in the 67th minute broke the scoreless match. The goal was the first of the season for the sophomore and one of fiveshots on net for the Little Giants. Wabash domnated the stat sheet for the second consecutive match, outshooting Earlham 17-3 overall. Freshman
Mike Gore pounded four shots, including three on goal to lead the Little Giants' offense.
Riley Pelton and
Steve Magura each had three shots. The physicality of the match showed with a total of 33 fouls and six yellow cards issued in the contest.
Wabash travels to Monmouth College Saturday for a 2 p.m. (CDT) start.
