Daniel Purvlicis scored 26 points to lead Wabash in scoring in an 89-75 victory over George Fox University in the consolation game of the Lee Pfund Tournament at Wheaton College Saturday.

Purvlicis earned a place on the all-tournament team after pacing the Little Giants with 15 points in Friday night's loss to Defiance College in the weekend opener.

Wabash battled back and forth with George Fox through the first 10 minutes of the game before Purvlicis scored three consecutive baskets to give the Little Giants a 23-17 lead. Four free throws by freshman
Johnny Jager stretched the advantage to ten points. Jager finished with a season-high 22 points with half coming from the free throw line in an 11-for-13 effort from the stripe. He also handed out 10 assists, the third most by a Wabash player in a game. Freshman
Duncan Roy tossed in 10 points for Wabash in the victory.

The Little Giants shot 51 percent from the field (31-of-60), including a red-hot 16-of-26 (61.5 percent) over the final 20 minutes of the game. Wabash pounded the ball inside against the Bruins, scoring 52 points in the paint. Â

Johnathan Doutt led the Bruins in scoring with 24 points.

Wabash (2-1) travels to Rose-Hulman Tuesday. Action begins in Terra Haute with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
