Wabash took early leads in both Monday baseball games at Ohio Wesleyan, but could not manage to pick up victories in the series sweep by the Battling Bishops.

The Little Giants lost 8-4 in game one before falling 23-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference series finale.

Lucas Stippler started Monday's opening contest with his first career home run to put Wabash up 1-0. OWU (11-4, 4-0 NCAC West) came back with a four-run first, then added another run in the third for a 5-1 edge.

The Little Giants used the long ball to score two more runs in the fourth inning.
Andrew Rodgers smashed a one-out double to left to set up a home run blast by
Tyler Owensby --- his first of the season --- to cut the Battling Bishops' lead to 5-3. OWU expanded its lead with a three-spot in the bottom half of inning to go up 8-3. Wabash added its final run of game one in the final inning off a double by Jimmie Maxwell, who came around to score on a two-out throwing error by Ohio Wesleyan.

Stippler, Owensby, Maxwell, and Rodgers accounted for the only hits of the game for Wabash. Ohio Wesleyan collected 10 hits, with seven coming off Little Giants starter
Austin Hawn. The senior worked 3-2/3 innings, allowing seven runs and two walks with one strikeout.
Christian Vukas pitched 1/3 of an inning with one hit, one run, five walks, and one strikeout.
Cody Cochran closed out the final two innings of the game. He scattered a pair of hits, walked one, and struck out one.

Wabash jumped out to a 1-0 lead again in the last game of the series.
David Oliger reached base on a walk, moved to third on an error then scored on a sacrifice fly. Ohio Wesleyan blew the game open immediately, scoring six runs in the first and four more in the second inning.
Matt Spaulding scored the second run of the game in the fifth, singling to lead off the frame before scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Oliger. Oliger added one more RBI with a solo home run to lead off the eighth inning.

Jordan Hansen each finished with two hits to pace Wabash in Monday's doubleheader.

Wabash (7-12, 0-4 NCAC West) will try to rebound this weekend when Wittenberg travels to Crawfordsville for a four-game set. The first two games are scheduled to start Friday at 1 p.m. The final two games will take place Saturday starting at noon.
