Wabash Drops Season Finale to Seventh-Ranked Scots

Wabash closed out the 2015 baseball season Sunday with a 23-10 loss to seventh-ranked Wooster in the North Coast Athletic Conference Crossover Series.

The home Scots had already clinched the berth in the upcoming NCAC Tournament in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Wabash answered a five-run first inning by the Scots with a run in second thanks to an RBI single by freshman Taylor Canter to bring junior Justin Green home. Wooster put 10 on the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame, then added four more in the fourth to take a 19-1 lead.

Canter opened the fifth inning with a double to left, then scored on a David Oliger single for another run for Wabash. The Little Giants tacked on another in the seventh with an RBI from Andrew Rodgers on a fielder's choice.

Wabash rallied for three runs in the eighth, starting with a Jeff Samuel double to left. After a Tanner Watson walk, Clint Scarborough launched his fifth home run of the season and ninth of his career to plate three runs for the Little Giants. Wabash scored four in the ninth off an RBI single by Tyler Owensby along with three unearned runs on a pair of Wooster errors.

The Little Giants finished with 15 hits, led by Lucas Stippler, Tyler Hampton, Oliger, Samuel, and Canter with two apiece. Scarborough's three RBI paced the Little Giants in their season finale.

Cameron Glaze took the loss in 1-2/3 innings of work. Cody Cochran, William Kelly, Matt Bowman, and Alan Corey all saw action on the mound, as well. Danny Reese moved to 6-1 with the win for Wooster (33-7, 17-2 NCAC).

Wabash finishes the season with a record of 12-26 and a 4-15 mark in NCAC games.
