Lacrosse Scores 26 In Home Win Over Defiance

The Wabash College lacrosse team scored set a new record for goals in a game Saturday in its 26-6 victory over Defiance College
 
The Little Giants peppered the net with 19 goals in the first half, including an 11-goal outburst in the opening period. Wabash took advantage of a 15 Defiance (0-3) penalties, scoring 11 goals in extra-man opportunities.
 
Steven Stark tied his own school record for most goals in a game with six. Collin Brennan and Colin Corcoran each tallied four goals. Billy Bernhardt added three goals, while Sterling Sikes, John Rodgers, and Joe Hapak scored two apiece. Dajon Thomas, Austin Crosley, and Scott Purucker each scored a goal in the game, as well.
 
Samuel Stewart shut out the Yellow Jackets in the first half and finished with three saves. He faced a total of 13 shots in the game. The Little Giants defense has held three consecutive opponents to six goals and has only allowed an average of 8.2 goals per game. Wabash is averaging 16.6 goals over the span of five games.
 
Wabash fired a total of 81 shot attempts with 47 ending up on goal.
 
The Little Giants (3-2) return to action against Southwestern University in a match currently scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Mud Hollow Stadium.
