Wabash Stays Even After Early Deficit at Wittenberg

Wabash trailed Wittenberg in the early going before matching the host Tigers goal for goal in the second half in the Little Giants' 15-6 loss.
 
Wabash scored three goals in the third period to cut into Wittenberg's 12-3 first half lead. Tucker Dixon opened the period with a goal off a pass from Steven Stark. Stark added one of his three goals in the contest at the 7:04 mark of the third after the Tigers scored their lone goal of the period. Collin Brennan notched his 38th goal of the season to close out the quarter with Wabash trailing 13-6.
Wittenberg (8-6, 4-4 NCAC) added two goals in the final period.
 
Spencer Sikes scored the first goal for Wabash to trim the Tigers' lead to 2-1 in the first. Stark scored his first goal with 5:50 left in the first period to make the score 4-2 with Dixon picking up the assist. Stark scored again to open the second period to hold the Wittenberg lead at 6-3. The Tigers scored the next six goals to close out period and take the 12-3 lead.
 
Dixon tallied two assists in addition to his goal for a total of three points in the contest.
 
Samuel Stewart started at goalkeeper for Wabash and recorded five saves in 39:19 minutes of action. Gage Brock finished the game as the Little Giants' goalkeeper in relief.

Stark holds the scoring lead for the Little Giants with 39 goals and 21 assists for a total of 60 points.
 
Wabash (5-9, 1-6 NCAC) closes out the 2016 season with its home finale Saturday at 2 p.m. against fourth-ranked Denison University. The Little Giants will honor seniors Andrew and Ian Sunde and Scott Purucker prior to the start of the game.
