Wabash College halted a nine-game losing streak on the baseball diamond Friday afternoon with a 6-0 win over Denison. The Little Giants dropped the first game of the conference doubleheader 7-3.

Junior righthander
Michael Herrmann (3-3) sparkled in his seventh start of the season. He held the Big Red (22-11, 10-4 NCAC West) to five hits in a complete game shutout, keeping Denison scoreless for the first time this season. Herrmann walked just two batters and struck out six. The gem lowered his ERA to 3.72 for the year.

Wabash scored two runs in the third, sixth, and eighth innings to accumulate its six runs on eight hits.

David Oliger smacked his 19
th double of the season in the third inning to drive home
Chase Clarkson with what would prove to be the game-winning run. Oliger scored later in the inning on an errant throw on a failed pickoff attempt.

Sean Roginski and
Eric Chavez enjoyed productive days at the plate. After a
Tyler Downing two-out single, Roginski singled to right center to move Downing, who stole on the pitch, to third base. Roginski followed by stealing second base. Chavez then singled through the left side and drove in Downing to spread the Wabash lead to 3-0. With keen base running, Roginski scored on a wild pitch to stretch the lead to 4-0.

The Little Giants went on to score two more insurance runs in the eighth inning with the help of a Chavez single to left field and a Clarkson RBI double to left center. Chavez finished with two hits and two RBI. Oliger collected two hits, as well.

The Little Giants fell behind early in the first game. Quickly in the first inning, Denison scored their first run, followed by another run in the second, and their offensive breakout of five runs in the third inning. Though Denison would not score for the remainder of the game, Wabash only managed to muster three runs in the fifth inning in a comeback effort.

In the fifth inning, Roginski's leadoff singe and Chavez's proceeding walk set the table for an Oliger double that drove both Little Giants across the plate. Oliger later advanced to third base on a passed ball before scoring on a
KJ Zelenika single to left field to bring the score to 7-3.

Starter
Jensen Kirch (5-3) allowed seven runs on ten hits through four innings.
Alex Dickey relieved Kirch, throwing three innings of scoreless baseball while allowing one hit. He struck out three Denison batters on 41 pitches.

Wabash (17-18, 7-7 NCAC West) and Denison hope to conclude the four-game series Saturday morning. Impending rain has forced Saturday's start time to be moved to 9 a.m. The Little Giants will honor seniors Oliger, Zelenika, and
Christian Vukas prior to Saturday morning's first pitch.
