Wabash held Ohio Wesleyan scoreless over the first 45 minutes of Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference soccer match at Fischer Field. The visiting Battling Bishops erupted for four second-half goals in a 4-0 loss by the Little Giants.
Wabash limited OWU (8-5-1, 4-0-1) to three shots and one shot on goal in the first period, while firing two shots of its own. The Bishops fired nine total shots including seven shots on goal in the final period. Brady Whittekind scored his first goal of the season in the 56th minute to give OWU the lead it would never relinquish.
The Little Giants put two shots on goal in the second half as part of five total shot attempts.
Mike Gore and
Kyle Holmer each recorded attempts that forced saves by the Bishops' goaltender.
Demitri Lee finished with four saves in the match for Wabash.
The loss dropped Wabash (9-4, 3-2 NCAC) to fourth in the latest conference standings, falling one spot behind Denison University. The Big Red defeated Wittenberg 5-0 and will travel to Crawfordsville Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. match at Fischer Field.
