Wabash lacrosse faced 19th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University in a road North Coast Athletic Conference affair Wednesday afternoon. The Little Giants trailed 7-1 before eventually losing 29-3 to the Battling Bishops.
Wabash took the early lead on a
Jacob Taylor's 10th goal of the season to put the Little Giants up 1-0 in the second minute of the game. OWU (8-4, 5-0 NCAC) responded with seven consecutive goals in the first period to close out the 15-minute segment with a 7-1 lead. The Battling Bishops used a 10-0 second quarter scoring spurt to put the contest out of reach.
Tucker Dixon added his 29th goal of the year in the fourth period off an assist from
Steven Stark. Stark tallied his 31st goal of the year to provide the final differential.
Freshman
Max Atkins recorded 20 saves in 45 minutes of action in goal for Wabash (5-8, 1-4 NCAC).
Samuel Stewart added a single save over 10 minutes at goalkeeper for the Little Giants.
Blake Markett played five minutes at goalkeeper, as well.
The Little Giants return to action Saturday afternoon at home at 1 p.m. versus Oberlin College.
