Wabash earned a split with Manchester Monday afternoon in its baseball home opener. A 9-2 loss to the Spartans in game ended the Little Giants' seven-game winning streak, but Wabash got back on the winning side of the ledger in game two with a 10-5 victory.

The Little Giants (11-3) never led in game one, trailing 2-0 in the fourth before a groundout by
Andrew Jumonville scored
Bryce Aldridge from third with the first run of the game for Wabash to cut the lead to 2-1. Manchester (7-7) scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and added two more in seventh. Wabash struck for another run in the eighth inning.
Jackson Blevins grounded to first to plate
Sean Roginski for a 7-2 deficit. Two more runs came home for the Spartans in the top of ninth inning to stretch the lead to seven and the final differential.

Roginski finished with three of the Little Giants' ten hits in game one.
Kurt Lange took the loss for Wabash. He threw five innings as the starter, surrendering two earned run on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
Kase Lawson gave up four runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out on in 1-1/3 innings of relief for the Little Giants.
Eric Murphy closed out the game, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in 2-2/3 innings pitched. He struck out two batters.

Manchester scored first in game two with a run in the third, but Wabash responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Aldridge reach base safely on a throwing error --- one of five errors in the game by the Manchester defense.
Jared Wolfe raced home to tie the game at 1-1 on the play. The Little Giants added another run in the third when
Matthew Annee's single brought Roginski home for a 2-1 Wabash lead. Jumonville picked up an RBI in the fifth with a groundout to score Aldridge and provide the Little Giants a 3-1 lead.

The Spartans tied the game with two runs in the sixth inning, then added another in the seventh to jump in front 4-3. Wabash exploded for seven runs in the seventh. Jumonville doubled home a run to tie the game at 4-4.
Eric Chavez put down a perfect bunt base hit to give Wabash the lead as Jumonville scored. Annee raced home on an errant throw by Spartans' third baseman.

Joe House followed with a single to score Chavez. Wolfe added a single in the inning for an RBI before Roginski singled home a pair of runs to push the Wabash lead to 10-4 to put the game out of reach. Manchester scored a run in the ninth inning before
Zach Moffett closed out the game for a Wabash victory.

Annee and Jumonville paced the Wabash offense. Each collected three hits, with Jumonville driving home two runs. Roginski and Chavez finished with two hits apiece as the Little Giants finished with 14 hits for the game.

Ryan Thomas earned the win in relief of starter
Sean Smith. Thomas pitched the seventh inning, allowing one run on four hits to go with one strikeout. Smith threw six strong innings, limiting the Spartans to three runs on six hits with three walks. He struck out four.
Kevin O'Donnell walked one batter in the eighth inning. Moffett surrendered the final run in the ninth inning on two hits with one strikeout.

Wabash will play at home against Edgewood College over the upcoming weekend. The schedule calls for the two teams to open with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon. A single game is set for Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
