Boulais' Header Gives Wabash A 1-0 Win Against Trine

Jacques Boulais blasted a header into the net with 20 minutes remaining in regulation to give Wabash a 1-0 victory over Trine University in the second game of the 2018 Robbie Dreher Soccer Classic Saturday afternoon.

Boulais scored his second goal of the season off a rebound from an initial shot by freshman Timothy Herring. The first-year player's attempt was saved by Trine (2-1) goalkeeper Taylor Medina, but was unable to control the ball. The attempt bounced right to Boulais, who quickly sent the follow-up shot into the goal in the 70th minute.

Wabash (3-1) fired one shot on goal in the first half of match, played in a steady rain throughout as the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon passed through west-central Indiana. Corbin Kaiser put the attempt on goal in the opening period before the back-to-back attempts by Herring and Boulais that created the goal. The Little Giant defense held Trine without a shot on goal and limited the visiting Thunder to four shot attempts overall in the contest, with only one coming in the second half.

The Little Giants will play Fontbonne University Sunday at 1 p.m. The Griffins defeated Franklin College 4-1 in the first match Saturday. Franklin and Trine meet in the Classic's finale at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
