Lacrosse Honors Six Seniors Prior To Home Finale Versus Oberlin

Wabash honored the senior members of its 2019 lacrosse team prior to the Little Giants' home season finale Saturday against Oberlin. Wabash lost to the Yeomen 14-6.
 
Wabash (5-12, 1-7 NCAC) recognized senior members Collin Brennan, Tucker Dixon, Aaron Elsing, Zach LaRue, John Rodgers, and Steven Stark prior to Saturday's contest. The six seniors combined for 17 wins during their four season, including three five-win seasons for the most victories in a single season by a Wabash team, including a new high-water mark of four home victories this year. Brennan, Dixon, and Stark each surpassed 100 career goals this year, becoming the first players in program history to eclipse that mark.
 
Brennan leaves the program as the all-time leading scorer with 126 career goals, including a career-record six game-winning goals. Dixon scored twice in the game against Oberlin (5-10, 2-6 NCAC) to finish his career with 108 goals to rank third all-time in Wabash history. He has played in more games than any other Little Giant with a total of 62 appearances including 59 starts.
 
Elsing ranks second in Wabash history with 67 caused turnovers and is tied for second in games played with 60. He is part of a defense that entered the game against Oberlin ranked 34th in the nation with an average of 11.63 caused turnovers per game. LaRue joins Elsing on the all-time caused turnovers list with 54 to rank fourth all time. Rodgers ends his career fourth on the Wabash individual list in career ground balls with 143. Stark scored three goals in the loss to Oberlin to finish his career with 118 goals, second-best in Wabash history. His 67 career assists and 185 career total points are the best all time in Wabash history.
 
The Little Giants fell behind 3-0 before Stark tallied the first of his three goals in the game. Oberlin took a 4-1 lead into the second period and pushed the advantage to 5-1 before Dixon and Stark notched back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 5-3. The Yeomen responded with three goals of their own for an 8-3 halftime edge.
 
Oberlin added a ninth goal to open the third period before Stark scored his third of the game to cut the score to 9-4. The Yeomen pulled away in the third and fourth periods to move in front 14-4 before goals from Joseph Plencner and Dixon completed the scoring for Wabash for the 14-6 final.
 
Wabash fired 29 total shots and 17 shots on goal in the game compared to 54 total shots and 35 shots on goal for Oberlin. The Little Giants went 2-for-7 on extra-ma opportunities but held Oberlin scoreless on its only man-up chance. Max Atkins recorded 21 saves and a team-best 11 ground balls. Elsing added a team-high three caused turnovers to his career totals. Rodgers won eight faceoffs to close out his career at the dot for Wabash.
