Wabash Dominates Second Half In Home Win Over Kenyon

Wabash outscored Kenyon 21-9 over the final seven-and-a-half minutes of the first half to race to a 12-point halftime lead. The Little Giants nearly doubled the visiting Lords' offensive output in the second half for an 85-57 victory in Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
 
Wabash (9-6, 5-3 NCAC) trailed Kenyon (5-10, 2-6 NCAC) throughout much of the first half. The Little Giants trailed by four points midway through the opening period before a free throw from Ahmoni Jones and a three-pointer by Justin Hensley evened the score at 15-15. Hensley finished with a career-high 15 points and connected on 5-of-7 of his three-point attempts.
 
The Little Giants once again trailed by as many as three points heading into the final eight minutes of the half before Hensley added another three-pointer to tie the score at 22-22. Kenyon's Elijah Davis and Wabash guard Tyler Watson traded baskets to keep the game tied at 24-24. Watson added a pair of free throws to put Wabash back in front 26-24 to begin the big scoring run to close out the half. After a basket by Alex Eberhard, Kenyon cut the Wabash lead to two points with a layup by Ryan O'Neil. Jack Davidson scored two free throws to begin a 9-0 scoring run capped by a Watson three-point shot for a 37-26 lead. The teams traded shots over the final three minutes of the half to send Wabash to the locker room with a 45-33 lead.
 
Wabash raced out to a 26-point lead by outscoring Kenyon 18-4 over the first eight minutes of the second half. The Little Giants held Kenyon to five baskets and one offensive rebound over the final 20 minutes of the game to outscore the visitors 40-24. Wabash shot 16-of-31 from the field in the second half for a 31-of-60 effort from the field overall. The Little Giants outrebounded Kenyon 39-27. Harrison Hallstrom led the way with six rebounds. Eberhard grabbed six boards in the contest.
 
Davidson led Wabash in scoring with 21 points. Watson finished with 17 points. Jones scored 11 points and secured five rebounds.
 
Ugnius Zilinskas paced Kenyon on offense with 17 points. Davis came off the bench to score 10 points for the Lords.
 
Wabash will travel to Greencastle, Indiana, Wednesday evening to play arch-rival DePauw University in a 7 p.m. contest.
