Wabash College junior basketball player Tyler Watson has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. 

Watson, a guard on the Little Giants' basketball team, averaged 12.9 points while starting all 26 games last season as a sophomore. He ranked among the top-20 players in the NCAC in points per game and field goal shooting percentage, finishing at 46.8 percent from the field for the year. Watson started 11 times and played in a total of 27 games as a freshman. He averaged 9.4 points a contest in his rookie season and scored a career-high 25 points at Kenyon.
 
Off the court, Watson is a chemistry and mathematics double major with a 3.793 cumulative grade point average. He is one of four COVID Action Response and Education (CARE) Team managers at Wabash, working with the College's Healthy Campus Task Force to update information to the student body and assist 40 CARE Team leaders as they respond to student concerns boost morale, and encourage the campus to follow public health guidelines. Watson also organized several community service projects in the fall after contacting Crawfordsville Mayor Todd Barton'00. Groups of students, led by Watson, cleaned up the perennial garden at the local Amtrak station and assisted with painting projects at the Crawfordsville Municipal Airport. Watson's work also inspired other groups to help with projects at the local park and library as well as a local church.

The NCAC Student-Athlete of the Week highlights two conference individuals each week, who excel in one or more of the following areas: academics, commitment, community service, leadership and perseverance. Student-athletes have been nominated by their respective schools and are from the current traditional playing season. Watson shared honors this week with Hiram junior football player Delanoe Harris.
