Late First-Half Rally Lifts Wabash To Home Wim Over Anderson

A 20-6 run over five minutes in the first half helped Wabash take control of its Tuesday evening home basketball against Anderson University and claim a 96-84 victory at Chadwick Court.
 
Jack Davidson scored a game-high 33 points and moved past Chad Tabor '99 and into fourth place on the all-time Wabash scoring list with 1,902 points. He trails Jack Roudebush '74 in third place with 1,943 career points.
 
Wabash (8-3) and Anderson (7-3) battled back and forth over the first 14 minutes of the contest. The Little Giants held a one-point lead at 32-31 after a pair of Anderson free throws with 6:04 on the first-half clock. Davidson scored the next four points for Wabash to begin the 20-6 run that produced a 52-37 lead with 1:09 left to play in the period. Anderson scored the final four points of the half to trail 52-41 at the break.
 
Anderson continued to cut into the Little Giants' lead, drawing as close as seven points until a Davidson three-pointer with 17:44 left in the game boosted the lead back to double digits. The teams traded baskets once again until Wabash mounted another run to move in front by as many as 19 points in the final six minutes of the game. The visiting Ravens would get as close as 10 points with 3:55 left to play before Kellen Schreiber and Tyler Watson put the game on ice by scoring the final eight points of the game for Wabash.
 
The Little Giants shot red-hot from the field, hitting on 73.3 percent of their shots at one point in the second half. Wabash cooled a bit by the end of the game, finishing 36-of-56 overall for 64.3 percent. The Little Giants connected on 10-of-18 three-point tries for 55.6 percent and went 14-of-17 from the free throw line (82.4 percent). Anderson shot 29-of-63 for 46 percent and scored on 10-of-28 three-point tries (35.7 percent).
 
Davidson produced six assists and a team-best seven rebounds in the win. Watson scored 25 points for Wabash, while Schreiber finished with 12 points. Jesse Hall came off the bench and scored 14 points.
 
Maurice Knight led Anderson with 25 points. Jordan Gadis finished with 14 points and Fred Shropshire chipped in 10 points.
 
The victory came in the final non-conference game of the season for Wabash. The Little Giants return to North Coast Athletic Conference action on December 30 with a 3 p.m. contest at Oberlin College.
