The Wabash and Trine tennis teams battled to the final singles match on Saturday to determine at winner at the Collett Tennis Center. The Little Giants lost in three sets in the finale for a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the visiting Thunder.
 
Wabash (2-4) scored an early victory at number two doubles. The duo of Liam Grennon and Reed Mathis combined for an 8-6 victory to put the Little Giants down by only a point at 2-1 headed into singles play.
 
Trevor McKinney picked up a win at number six singles after Trine (5-3) had moved in front 3-1. McKinney earned a 6-4, 6-4 win in straight sets to bring the Little Giants back to within a point of the Thunder. Reese Long evened the match at 3-3 with his straight-sets victory at number five singles. Long won by scores of 6-2, 6-4.
 
Cole Borden tied the match at 4-4 with a victory at number two singles. Borden's straight-set win with a tiebreaker victory in the second set (6-1, 7-6 (4)) brought the teams even at 4-4 with number on singles to be decided.
 
Greenon lost his opening set in the top flight 2-6 before rallying for a 6-2 victory in the second set. Trine's Isaac Everitt came back to win the third set 10-4 to earn the final team point for the Thunder.
 
Wabash will play Adrian College on Saturday, March 20 at the Collett Tennis Center beginning at noon.
