Volleyball Completes Inaugural Season With Matches at Olivet

The Wabash volleyball team closed out its inaugural season on Saturday with a pair of Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League matches at Olivet College. The Little Giants lost both contests by scores of 3-1.
 
Wabash (2-14) lost the opening set of the day by a score of 25-17 before evening the match at 1-1 with a 25-20 victory in the second set. The host Comets (3-11) came back with victories in the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-22.
 
Luke Wallace recorded 22 kills in the first match for Wabash with a .347 attack percentage. Wallace also led the team with 18 digs. Ricky Sessions put away 12 kills for the Little Giants. Luke Davis passed out 37 assists.
 
The second match was nearly identical to the first. Olivet opened with a 25-19 win in the first set before Wabash tied the score at 1-1 with a 25-15 victory in set two. The Comets captured the second match with by forcing a tiebreaker with a 26-24 victory in the third set prior to closing out the contest with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.
 
Wallace added another 21 kills in his final career match for the Little Giants. He also picked up a team-high 22 digs along with a solo block and three block assists. Davis recorded 37 assists in the season finale.
 
The first varsity season for the Wabash volleyball was capped with a pair of road victories at Wittenberg and its first winning set of the season at home against Trine.
