A 9-0 scoring run to open the second half broke open a tie game at halftime between Wabash and DePauw and sent the host Little Giants to an 84-70 loss to the 12
th-ranked Tigers at Chadwick Court Thursday evening.

Wabash (5-5) battled back from a 10-point deficit in the first half by outscoring the Tigers 12-2 over the course of four minutes. DePauw (11-1) regained the lead by three at 31-28 with 2:58 left in the first half.
Kellen Schreiber drew the Little Giants to within one point with a pair of free throws before a three-point basket from
Avery Beaver at 1:46 provided a 33-31 Wabash lead. DePauw answered with back-to-back baskets before a Schreiber layup tied the score at 35-35 heading into halftime.

DePauw's Nolan Ginther took over to start the second half. Wabash held Ginther to four points in the first half before the Tiger senior scored six of the next nine points to give DePauw a 44-35 lead two minutes into the final period. Ginther finished with a team-best 25 points for DePauw.
Tyler Watson brought Wabash back to within six with a three-point basket as part of his game-high 27 points. Schreiber added a basket to cut the lead back to four points, but it would be as close as Wabash would get for the remainder of the half.

The Tigers took a double-digit lead midway through the period before Wabash mounted one last comeback effort.
Reis Thomas scored on a driving layup with 4:28 left to play in the game.
Ahmoni Jones added a steal at the other end of the floor and drove to the basket for a fast-break layup to bring Wabash to within five points at 73-68 with 4:07 on the clock. DePauw ended that Wabash scoring streak with seven consecutive points of its own to regain the 12-point advantage with 2:22 left to play. The Tigers held the double-digit end for the remainder of the game to take the 14-point victory.

Wabash hit 44.2 percent from the field on 25-of-52 shooting for the evening. The Little Giants could not contain a hot-shooting Tiger team that connected on 33-of-55 attempts for 60 percent including 10-of-22 from three-point range (45.5 percent). The Tigers shots a blistering 82.6 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes by hitting 19 of their 23 shot attempts.

DePauw outscored Wabash in the paint 44-30 and held a 29-25 the rebounding advantage with 15 second-chance points compared to just four for the Little Giants.

Schreiber added 21 points to Watson's 27-point effort for Wabash. Jones came off the bench to score 10 points in 20-minutes of playing time. Â Aaron Shank and Grant Niego each scored 13 points for DePauw. Josh Hall finished with 12 points for the Tigers.

Wabash and DePauw will meet again on Saturday, March 6 at 3 p.m. in Greencastle for the third time this season. The Tigers defeated Wabash 86-75 on January 30 at Chadwick Court to begin the 2021 campaign.
