Wabash rode a strong inside attack in the second half of Wednesday evening's road North Coast Athletic Conference basketball game at Wittenberg. The Little Giant duo of
Kellen Schreiber and
Ahmoni Jones combined for 41 points in the 87-69 Wabash victory.

Wabash (13-3, 8-1 NCAC) was unable to put any distance between itself and Wittenberg (7-9, 5-4 NCAC) in the first half. The Little Giants led by eight points with 6:44 left to play in the first half before Wittenberg went on a 6-0 scoring run to draw within two points at 28-26.
Tyler Watson hit a jump shot to end the streak. Wabash eventually regained a seven-point lead on a layup by
Sam Comer with 1:31 left in the opening half. The Tigers made it a five-point advantage for Wabash at the break with a layup in the closing seconds, sending the Little Giants to the locker room with a 39-34 lead.

The Little Giants came out on fire in the second half.
Jack Davidson opened the period with a three-point basket to increase the lead to eight points before Jones and Schreiber took over the game. Jones scored the next five points for Wabash on a three-point basket and a pull-up jumper to extend the lead to 10 points at 47-37. Schreiber added the next seven points for the Little Giants to push the advantage to 15 points at 54-39. Schreiber scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the second period. Jones tallied 11 points in the second half on the way to 19 for the game. The twosome shot 11-of-14 from the field in the second half and finished the game going 17-of-21 overall. Â

Wittenberg never got closer than 12 to points to the Wabash total in the second half. With Wabash in front 58-46,
Edreece Redmond and Watson both scored ahead of two more baskets by Schreiber. The eight-point swing pushed the Little Giants' lead to 20 points and effectively put the game away.

Schreiber grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds to go with his 22 points for his first double-double of the season. Jones snared seven boards to help Wabash outrebound Wittenberg 38-29. Wabash shot 34-of-64 from the field (53.1 percent) and 8-of-20 from three-point range (40 percent). The Tigers finished 23-of-57 from the field (40.4 percent) and hit only 5-of-21 shots from beyond the arc (23.8 percent). The free throw line kept the game closer than the 18-point margin. Wittenberg connected on 18-of-24 shots from the line (75 percent). Wabash shot an uncharacteristically-low 78.6 percent from the free throw line, hitting 11-of-14 tries. The Little Giants handed out 14 assists in the game, led by six from Watson and four from Davidson.

Watson scored 18 points for Wabash in the win, while Davidson finished with 14 points. Landon Martin scored 18 as the only Tiger in double figures on the evening.

Wabash returns to Chadwick Court for a weekend doubleheader beginning with a 2 p.m. contest at Chadwick Court against Denison University. The Big Red lost a 75-72 overtime contest at home against DePauw Wednesday evening. Sunday the Little Giants square off against conference co-leader Wooster at 2 p.m.
