The Wabash College lacrosse team opened its 2022 season with a 10-8 road victory at Anderson University Wednesday evening. The Little Giants outscored the host Ravens 6-4 in the second half of action to secure the victory.

The win was also the first for new head coach
Chris Burke. His Wabash (1-0) team rallied from a 5-2 deficit to claim the victory.

Wabash got its first goal of the season from sophomore
Caulin Fitzgerald, who led the team with three goals on the night.
Ethan Stonis started the Wabash rally by scoring his lone goal of the game to cut the Anderson (0-1) lead to 5-3.
Jeremiah Eaton added a goal with 5:24 left in the second period to send Wabash to the half trailing the Ravens 5-4.

Joseph Plencner tied the game in the first 1:15 of the third period with his only goal of the game.
Tanner Simmons provided the first lead of the game for Wabash with a goal with 5:32 left in the third period. The Ravens tied the game at 6-6 but
Anthony Nguyen answered with a goal with one minute remaining in the period to begin a 4-0 scoring run by the Little Giants.
Artie Rogers and Fitzgerald both scored before Nguyen tallied his second goal of the night to cap the run to put Wabash in front 10-6. Anderson scored two late goals to provide the two-point margin of victory for the Little Giants.

Fitzgerald finished the game with four total points by adding one assist to his three-goal effort. Rogers led the team with two assists. Plencner and Eaton also handed out one assist apiece. Stonis and
AJ Miller both forced two caused turnovers.
Evan Schiefelbein led the team with five ground balls.

Matthew Hendrick recorded eight saves to earn the win in goal for the Little Giants.

Wabash went 2-of-3 in extra-man opportunities and finished the game 19-of-23 in clearing attempts.

The Little Giants open the home portion of their 2022 schedule against Mount St. Joseph University at 2 p.m. at Fischer Field.
