Davidson, Watson Named To Academic All-America Team

Wabash College seniors Jack Davidson and Tyler Watson earned places on the 2021-22 Academic All-America men's basketball team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Davidson received First Team honors. Watson was selected to the Academic All-America Second Team.
 
Davidson is an economics major with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average and earns Academic All-America honors for the third time in his career. He is an active member of Wabash College's Center for Innovation, Business, and Entrepreneurship. He has led teams of students working with local businesses and non-profit programs to analyze market conditions, business performance, and economic factors, using that research to develop new business models and marketing strategies.
 
Davidson ranks third in the nation in scoring by averaging 25.7 points per game. He was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second time in his career and earned the U.S. Basketball Writers Association DIII Men's Basketball Player on two different occasions this season. Davidson scored 97 points in three North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament games to lead the Little Giants to the title for the first time in school history to secure the school's first NCAA Tournament berth since 1998. He was named to the Bevo Francis Award Top-50 Watch List. The award is presented annually to the small college basketball player who has had the finest overall season.

Davidson leads the nation in three-point field goal shooting percentage by hitting 49.0 of his shots behind the arc. His 122 made three-point baskets is the most by an NCAA DIII player this season. Davidson ranks first in free throws made (200), total points this season (796), and seventh in free throw shooting percentage (90.8 percent) among DIII players. Davidson is the all-time leading scorer in Wabash basketball history with 2,443 points. He also owns Wabash career records for free throws made (708), games started and played (109), and is second in three-point field goals made (323) and assists (376).

Watson is a chemistry and mathematics double-major with a 3.88 cumulative grade point average. The senior guard is a two-time Academic All-District selection. He served the Wabash campus as a COVID Action Response and Education (CARE) Team Manager (2020-2022). Watson was the co-recipient of the Pete Vaughan Award in 2021. The award is presented to the outstanding Wabash College student-athlete of the Year. 

Both players are part of the Little Giant basketball team's partnership with Hose Elementary School for a program called "Books, Basketball, and Beyond." The players regularly meet with kindergarten and first-grade students to help develop and strengthen reading skills while also serving as positive male role models. On the court, Watson was a 2022 First Team All-NCAC selection and was also named to NCAC All-Tournament Team.  Watson ranked second in the conference and is currently 31st in the nation in assists with an average of 5.4 per game. His total of 168 assists is a Wabash single-season record and ranks ninth among Division III players this year. Watson ranks 21st in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.71). He finished sixth in the conference in scoring with a 15.9 points-per-game scoring average.
