The Wabash duo of
Cole Shifferly and
Liam Grennon advanced to the consolation bracket finals at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Tournament, held over the weekend at the University of Washington at St. Louis.

Shifferly and Grennon finished with a 3-1 record for the weekend. The pair rebounded from an initial 8-3 loss in the tournament's opening round to Brandon Wall and Jake McDivitt from Otterbein to record three consecutive victories in the consolation bracket. Shifferly and  Grennon defeated Adnan Alousi and Tieran Rafferty from Kalamazoo 8-6 in the first round of the bottom bracket. They scored another 8-6 win, this time against Arjun Gupta and Chris Kaufmann from Transylvania University in the next round. Shifferly and Grennon moved into the consolation finals of the consolation bracket with an 8-5 win against Alex Pinkston and Matt Birchmeier from Webster. The finals match between Shifferly and Grennon and Ethan Carr and Anton Hedulund from Allegheny was defaulted.

The doubles team of
Augusto Ghidini and
Tharakesh Ashokar also enjoyed a lengthy run in the tournament's consolation bracket. The pair lost an 8-2 contest in the opening round to Pato Garcia Muriel and Collin Scruggs of Washington – St. Louis but rallied for an 8-6 victory against Anthony Markello and Philip Gorun in the consolation bracket to advance. Ghidini and Ashokar scored an 8-2 win versus Saranpahon Siriwanic and Kobe Francis from Ohio Wesleyan University in the next round before losing 8-5 to Hedulund and Carr from Allegheny in the consolation semis.

Ashokar advanced to the semifinals of the tournament's red draw consolation singles bracket. The freshman lost a 6-1, 6-0 contest to Andy Mackler from Denison in the first round before picking up an 8-5 victory in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket. Ashokar lost 8-2 to Grayson Zylstra in the consolation semifinal round to finish his action in the tournament.

The ITA Central Region Tournament is the final fall event for the Little Giant program before the team begins play in the spring semester.
