The Wabash College volleyball team split a pair of matches to open the Illinois Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Bloomington, Illinois. The Little Giants defeated Wisconsin Luthern in five sets (25-14, 25-17, 19-25, 26-28, 15-3) after dropping a three-set contest to the host Titans (18-25, 12-25, 30-32).

In Friday's second match, Wabash (3-7) jumped out to a two-set lead against Wisconsin Lutheran (4-6).
Patrick Volk recorded six kills in the opening set, while
Luke Davis put away six kills in the second set. The Warrior rallied for a 25-19 victory in the third set before the two teams battled to a 28-26 decision, with Wisconsin Lutheran tying the match at two sets apiece.

The Little Giants dominated the tiebreaking set by taking an early 5-1 lead. Wabash held a 7-3 lead after a kill by Wisconsin Lutheran. The Little Giants captured the win with an 8-0 run to close the match.

Volk finished the match with a team-high 12 kills. Davis collected 11 kills, with
Jackson Leeper and
Carson Meadors adding nine kills apiece.
Zachary Small handed out a school-record 43 assists and had a team-best 15 digs.
Luis Rivera scored 12 digs.

Wabash lost in three sets to Illinois Wesleyan for the second time this season in the opening match. The Little Giants lost the opening set 25-18, then fell behind from the start in the second set before taking a 25-12 loss. The third set was a back-and-forth affair that featured 14 ties and eight lead changes. Wabash tied the score at 30-30 for the final time before the Titans scored the last two points for the 32-30 victory and the three-set win overall.

Volk picked up ten kills against Illinois Wesleyan.
Ricky Sessions recorded seven kills. Small gave out 26 assists and seven digs.
Michael Enz recorded six digs in the match.

Wabash plays Edgewood College at 1 p.m. CT, followed by a match against Maranatha Baptist at 3 p.m. CT.
