The Wabash College tennis team opened the home portion of its 2023 spring season Saturday by splitting a pair of matches. The Little Giants lost the morning contest to Millikin University 5-4 before defeating Rose-Hulman in the evening session 7-2.

Wabash (1-3) captured two of the three doubles points in the win over Rose (0-3).
Ethan Koeneman and
Cole Shifferly won 8-1 in the first doubles flight.
Tharakesh Ashokar and
Blake Discher II scored an 8-2 victory in the third double pairing.

Cole Borden led off singles play with a three-set win in the first flight with scores of 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Shifferly put Wabash up 4-1 with his 6-2, 6-1 victory in straight sets at number two singles.
Christan Zimmerman won 6-2, 6-3 in fourth singles to lock up the team victory.
Eduardo Werneck won 6-4 at number five singles, and Discher added a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory in the sixth singles flight.

The Little Giants nearly swept the Saturday action in a close loss in the first match versus unbeaten Millikin (3-0). Borden and
Jett Brownlee combined for the lone victory in doubles play with an 8-6 win in the third flight.
Alvaro Alonso-Sanchez won in three sets at number one singles, 6-4, 1-6, 10-4. Ashokar scored a 6-4, 6-4 win at number four singles. Werneck won his sixth singles match by scores of 6-1 and 6-4.

The Little Giants play another home doubleheader match next Saturday against Manchester University at 9 a.m., followed by a 5 p.m. match versus Capital University.
