Wabash Holds On For 12-11 Win At Manchester

Wabash College got contributions from every part of its lineup. All nine starters reached base safely, helping the Little Giants put 12 runs on the board and knock off the Manchester Spartans 12-11 in non-conference baseball action Monday.

Jacob Bishop (4-3) picked up Wabash's victory out of the bullpen (17-9). The left-hander went 3.2 innings, giving up four runs, one earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks, and striking out three.

Brayden Lentz paced the Little Giants' offense. Lentz went 3-for-4 on the day with a double and two RBI. Will Phillips also furnished a standout effort, going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Michael Galanos also contributed for Wabash, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding three RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Little Giants first put runs on the board in the second inning. Wabash's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a one-run single off the bat of Liam Patton.

The Spartans (13-12) narrowed the lead to 5-3 until the Little Giants expanded their advantage in the third. Wabash picked up two runs in the frame, the big hit being an RBI double from Camden Scheidt, which brought the score to 7-3 in favor of the Little Giants.

Manchester narrowed Wabash's lead to 7-6 before the Little Giants stretched the advantage to 9-6 in the fourth inning.

The Spartans tied the game at nine before Wabash returned to retake their advantage in the sixth inning. The Little Giants recorded two runs off Manchester pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double from Phillips, bringing the Wabash advantage to 11-9.

Manchester got within 11-10 until the Little Giants scored again in the seventh inning to stretch its lead to 12-10. Patton came across to score the lone run of the inning for Wabash and get them on the board.

Manchester put one run on the scoreboard before the game ended, but the Little Giants still held on for the 12-11 win.
